Posted on August 9th, 2010 No commentsWell not the finish we would of liked but it is what it is.It’s been a tough year coming from playing in last years grand final and not even playing finals at all this year but with changes to the committee, players leaving and New coaches I guess I should of expected some differences I just didn’t expect to have the year we’ve had.
But what I did learn is that when you think you know someone or something you can be proven wrong very quickly ;) .Any way we still have the awards night and end of year players trip and if you were at the Paddo on Sunday you would of got a taste of what to expect at the players trip, a lot of laughs.
All the best lad’s and I will see you soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted on August 2nd, 2010 No commentsTwo wins in row where the hell has this team been all year ? It’s amazing what happens to a team when they just have fun and look after each other the result ends up being the one the team wants. With a couple of boy’s not feeling well due to the flu the guy’s were asked to dig deep for each other and they did.One of the players to be given an award was only a few weeks ago going to be droppped from the reserves side but yet had an awesome game for the league and I really think he could offer a lot more next year if he gets fitter over summer.Another inclusion was young Troy who was given the opportunity to play league and he also had a great day.
Great team win lads with one game & one win to go!!!!

Posted on July 26th, 2010 No commentsCongratulations to Hobbsy and the boy’s on getting a great team win!!!
With our backs up against the wall playing the bottom side I was wondering how the league boy’s were going to react against a club that was celebrating 30 years of history and had nothing to lose.
Before the game started we decide the day was going to be about enjoying our footy and protecting our mate.Hobbsy then reassured us that himself and Haydos have never doubted us as a team or our ability to play as a team, he also said that we had to believe in each other out on the field and if we did the result will take care of it self and it did.
It was really great to see the boy’s up and about running hard to help or just protect each other for four quarters, you could really see the boys enjoying the game.
We have two games left and no reason why we can’t win both.

Posted on July 19th, 2010 No commentsSad day for the Ellenbrook Senior football club
Devo has called it a day on his playing days for NOW!!! I wish him all the best with the next adventure of his life, if it’s anything like his football career I’m sure it will be very successful.Like I said mate I will miss the days when I run pass you-sorry sprint pass you to get the ball and kick a goal on my left only to have you abuse me about how that could of added to your season tally LOL .
On saturdays game what can we say out played by a much better team simple as that.

Posted on July 12th, 2010 No commentsYet again we let a good lead turn into a drawn game and we find ourselves asking the same questions how does that happen?
The league side went from playing hard attacking footy for three quarters to panic footy after East Freo kicked two quick goals so another lesson learn hopefully.
On a good note the league side had two young blokes step up and play some awesome football against guy’s who were a lot bigger than themselves. The young blokes took the challenge on and it actually looked liked they had been playing in the league team since the start of the season.Well done to the boy’s and thanks for putting your hands up to play.
We have 4 games to go and this week is BATTLE of the BURLEY.

Posted on July 5th, 2010 No commentsNot the result myself or Cal were hoping for but hey who knows what team is going to show up on the weekends these day’s.
It was great to see so many supporters share a little bit more history with the club and with Cal.
I know that I have never seen selfish football being played before but I did this weekend and it’s not nice footy nor is it what the Eels are about, we were pushed around on our own ground for three quarters this weekend and if we are playing for the same reason as our team MATE who wears the same jumper that shouldn’t happen.I understand we are going through a faze that we are not use too but the only way out is to play TEAM footy not selfish footy.I’m 100% positive that if we took the same atmosphere and attitude in to our games from a Saturday night the ladder would look a lot different.I doubt very much we will be playing finals footy this year but we can certainly make it hard for other sides as well.
Saturday nights are fun times win or lose and people get very vocal after a few cold ales, with a few games to go it will be interesting to see who misses out and who comes in as there has been a few new faces popping up on Thursday nights and game day so late into the season. Lets hope loyal players don’t get burnt as I’d hate to see loyal players leave just for the sake of personal glory.
On a happier note really looking forward to seeing a couple of young blokes in a Ellenbrook seniors jumper this next weekend against East freo these young are still playing for our juniors but have asked if they can play for the seniors as they don’t have a game on and it’s great for future of the club to have these young blokes put there hand up just to get some experience.

President’s Banter - June
Posted on June 18th, 2010 No commentsHi team Eels,
Half way through the season and the feeling is great for a positive second half of the year.
We have had some very important milestones this year so far and will continue with one of the Eels favourite sons playing his 150th this week, Robbie Schnaars. Well done ol mate, you are a true champion of the game and have led by example on many occasions.
Last week we had the great Chris Murphy perform live at the club. Chris was brilliant and very funny. His constant bantering of Devo made for many laughs and his music was great. We had a full house, all singing together, and everyone had a big smile on their face, great to see. Chris commented that he enjoyed the night and would love to come back. Another highlight was Jenko’s and Jauncey’s rendition of and old favourite, The Horses.
Our next event is a Good Sammy’s / Salvo’s dress up on June 26th which will no doubt see some weird and wonderful costumes. It is also a great way to support a very important charity.
On that note, thank you to all that has put in for a young Ellenbrook resident that is suffering a terrible disease. This will continue for the next week or so and hope to be able to offer this family some financial support through tough times.
On the field we have been blessed with some exceptional performances by some individuals. These blokes have stepped up and been playing great footy and have shown some great heart. We will be fielding two very strong teams over the next half of the year and the results will come because of this.
Both coaches have done a fantastic job considering they have had to deal with absences and injuries. In a perfect world you would have a set team and only have to make a few changes throughout the year. So, well done guys.
Thank you to all the helpers and volunteers, your assistance is always appreciated.
Go Team Eels
AJ.
Presidents Banter - April
Posted on April 15th, 2010 No commentsWell, what a busy start to the year.
After months of preparation we finally were blessed with great whether and a record crowd for our first game. The reserve grade fielded a very strong team and was rewarded with a hard fought win. It was great to see that the lads moved so well together, ran hard in attack and defence and played for their jumper, the club and themselves. Well done to Muzz for his first win in senior footy, he deserved it as the efforts he puts in is fantastic.
The seniors were unlucky to not come away with a win and I felt that they just lost that special something that they have had all pre season. In stating that, I am positive that Hobbsy will regroup and push on. It was also great to see Hobbsy working the bench and the whole club is in support of you and you have everything it takes to make our lads a force to be reckoned with.
Off the field, the girls in the canteen were sensational and posted a record day. Every person I spoke to regarding the food (both during the day and the dinner meals) was rapt, thank you. Great job to Mel and her work on organising the entertainment for the family gals day. There were many helpers throughout the last few months and without them, we would not be so successful.
We had the 300 Club sponsors in our new corporate box which enjoyed both games and the opportunity to meet other local businesses. The prize winners will be advised this week and we hope to continue this tradition for many years to come.
It was also great to see Express Air, Ellenbrook Handy Hire, Choice Glass and Aluminium, Underground Hire Services and All Design Glazing attend the game and look forward to seeing them all on Anzac Day.
Now it’s time to head to East Freo. Look out you mob, we will only come out even harder.
AJ
