I’d like to start this weeks report by personally thanking those players who attended the Ellenbrook Eels training day on Saturday. Those players who attended enjoyed a rather challenging but rewarding day and I’m sure we’ll see all the benefits pay off this weekend when we travel to Kwinana.

The first stop was Whitman Park, where the players were split into 5 even teams which they represented for all the days activities. The first event was a “Where is it???? Run” within Whiteman Park. The Teams had to navigate using a map and clues as to where the check points were within an approximate 6k radius within the Park. Even though some teams navigational skills were much to be desired (Snow, Tom Tom and the rest of the Black Team) most teams managed to find all of the check points with the Green Team finishing first with a time of 36m 44 sec.

From Whiteman Park we then travelled to Garvey Park along the Swan River to take part in 4 activities. The first being the 3k team run where lead by Jesse the Blue Team got up to get the points over the Gold Team. The next even off the cards was the day’s main event, being kayaking and on behalf of the Eels I’d like to send my appreciation to Rob Cousins for organizing the Kayaks.

There were some funny moments during the kayaking as some of the players found it hard to keep there kayaks the right way up in the water. Hutcho and Whitey couldn’t seem to keep in time and both found the going tough during the lap around the island, while Red just couldn’t seem to stay on his Kayak. Poor Shaneo lost his sunnies, however this couldn’t stop the Blue Team who claimed victory in both the circuit and the relays.

After kayaking within there respective teams the players attacked a 500 club weight & cardio circuit, where for 25 minutes the teams had to complete different exercises and keep a running tally of all the reputations they’d completed. The Black Team won this event after achieving a total of 2606 reps, 36 ahead of the Red Team who finished with 2570.

The final even before Lunch was the Tug of War competition. After going through the preliminary matches undefeated the Green Team were upstaged in the Grand Final by the Gold Team. With big “Dougie Bollinger” Red being their anchor man they were unstoppable when it counted the most.

After the Lunch break the boys jumped back on the bus and travelled to Hillarys where they took part in the final 2 events for the day. The Blue Team dominated the beach relays while the Green and Black Teams had to share the points in the beach soccer competition.

The Overall placing’s for the day were; In 5th place was the Gold Team with 21 points, 4th was the Black Team on 22 points, 3rd went to Sayls’s Red Team with 23 points. Jonesy’s Green Team finished in 2nd on 27 points, with Jesse’s Blue Team taking out the honours on 32 points.

Overall the day proved to be a great success and on behalf of the playing group who attended the day I’d like to personally thank Adrian, Whitey, Devo, Muzz, and anyone else from the mighty Ellenbrook Eels who helped make this years Training day a great success. I know that the benefits gained from days like this will be beneficial to our Premiership ambitions so again thank you for giving the team this great opportunity.

Thanks to Hobbsy,AJ and the others who help put yesterdays training day together it was a great day with about 28 players turning up.After forming groups the guys put in some hard work to get the activities down along the way having some fun.

Before the training day had even started the Eels were hit with yet another blow with what I’m told by a good source could be a career ending injury to not one of the players but the Eels number one social supporter when he is down from Geraldton Mr B.From all the boys at the Eels we hope you have a speedy recovery.

On some other news it looks like some of the other boys will be resume footy training this week with the unfortunate end to cricket season this will boost the playing stock just in time for our first scratchy.

See ya at training lads!!!

I’d like to start this weeks report by announcing Paul Saylor as our club captain for the 2010 football season. Sayls will be in his 4th year with the Eels and has displayed great leadership during his time at the club and certainly deserves to lead the playing group this year. Jesse Manning will be his right hand man as the vice-captain. Jesse’s enthusiasm during pre-season to date has been fantastic and both players will develop a close relationship as the year goes on. I have high expectations from players within the team’s leadership group, and I’m very confident that both Sayls and Jesse will bring many values to the side. Congratulations lads, I look forward to working with you both during our premiership journey.

Congratulations also must go to our Reserve Grade co-captains (Shane and Wyvan). Both players bring a great deal of experience to the Ressies and if the leadership both players have shown so far is any indication then I have no doubt that they’ll do an exceptional job.

Now to our second Intra-Club match that was held on Sunday evening, what a success it was. Both Muz and myself have nothing but praise towards our playing group and even though there were some outstanding individual performances, overall it was a good team effort. There are so many positives that we can all take away from both intra-club matches and the pressure’s now on the coaching staff to pick two strong sides for our coming trial matches.

Those players who deserve a mention from the intra-club match are Johno, who enjoyed the free run out on the wing, Jesse and Jonesy linked up well through the midfield. Snow played a solid game out on the wing and through the middle, Robbie Schnaars was sensational up forward and Aaron Power provided great height throughout our defensive zone. All up I was more than impressed with everyone’s performance and congratulations to the Blue team who ended up winning 10.8 to 8.3.

Before I go I’d like to remind you all that the club training day is coming up on the 6th March so make sure you all keep this day free as maximum attendance will be expected.

Keep up the great work Eels, I’m looking forward to the Kwinana Game.

Firstly thanks to the all the players, coaches and the club for giving me the opportunity to captain the Eels league side in 2010 it is an honour and privilege to be a Captain of a football club and to be voted in by your peers is awesome, and again I thank everybody.

Congratulations to Jessie who is the league Vice Captain. Also congratulations to Shane and Wyvan who will Co Captain the reserves.

Great intra club scratch match last night lads with some stand out new players like Jonesy,Ads and Arron all playing well and working really hard just to name a few.Snow,Johnno and Rob Schannars also playing well, with a lot more players to come back for both sides there should be no reason why both teams can’t be strong this season.

On a sour note we did get an injury to an important player to the club, which I hope isn’t too serious as Brent has been working really hard and put in some big sessions this pre-season and we all knew 2010 was looking like he was in for a big year and it still could be if this injury isn’t too bad.Cross our fingers!!!

Lets all keep up the good work and all have a Big 2010!!!!

Training at Bayswater waves had an average turnout, after the club & coaches went out of there way to organise a good night were we could train at a different venue. For those players who may have pulled up a bit sore after the scratch match the pool would of been the perfect place to be.

In any case for those of you who rocked up it was a good session that started with a 3 km run then into the pool for 6 laps out of the pool for another 1800 metre run then back into the pool for another 3 laps everybody did really well and finished. We finished the night off with a game of water polo and trust me we all have a different out look at that game.

A couple of fines out of the night one to Pav for ringing Jess at 6.15pm and asking him to pick him up,taking into consideration we started training in Bayswater at 6.30pm.Second fine to Chris Sims new player to the club for ringing girlfriend to come pick him up from the pools when he only lives 400 metres away.(nice one Sims)

Again thanks to those who made to training Tuesday we will benefit from it.
